Dos and Don'ts BEFORE Booking Your Wedding Venue

A wedding ceremony at The Griffin House overlooking the Columbia Gorge on a sunny day with the text: Dos and Don'ts BEFORE Booking Your Wedding Venue

So you're engaged (Congratulations!) and you are ready to start wedding planning, now what? Maybe you have a venue in mind, maybe you are still looking, but some things need to get done before you put down a deposit on a date.

Here are some things you should and should NOT do before booking your venue.

DO create a first draft guest list

DO settle on a budget you're comfortable with

DON'T assume you have a wedding date

DO have a target wedding date and some backup options

DON'T order save the dates

DO book a wedding planner if that's in your budget and goals

DON'T book vendors (except a wedding planner)

DO start researching to narrow down your wedding style and goals

DON'T put off making a guest list and budget - those two things will inform the rest of your wedding planning

And don't forget, until you've signed a contract and put down a deposit on a venue, you don't have a wedding date! Do you have questions about dos or don'ts before booking your wedding venue? Pop them in the comments!

Happy Wedding Planning
